Easy Organic Traffic Series 1 – Smart Research
I get a lot of questions regarding SEO & getting organic traffic….. I guess there’s just too much junky information & silly myths about seo, making so many people confused.
Good news is….. SEO is simpler than you think! It is easy to generate organic traffic unlike what some people are saying! Frankly speaking, I was on the verge of selling this information, however, I really feel like sharing it openly with you.
These series of SEO tips may not cost you a cent, however, it doesn’t make it worthless. How much is it worth? It all depends on how much you implement, simple?
Keyword Research
The first thing when it comes to organic traffic is none other than research, get this wrong & the rest of the steps won’t matter. You are about to discover a super quick & easy way to do keyword research.
Use the free Google Keyword Tool & start entering your main keywords into it. When I say keyword it could mean key phrases with more than one word.
More Than 300 Searches Per Month
Pick keywords with more than 300 searches per month, that’s about least 10 searches per day. This is how you judge the demand of your keyword.
Less Than 20,000 Pages Indexed
Add “quotes” around your keywords & enter into Google, that’s how you get the number. This is how you judge the competition of your keyword.
Google AdWords Bid Price Above $0.75
Use Google Traffic Estimator to get the price estimates. This is how you judge if a keyword will likely to be profitable.
Product Or Service Based
Profitable keywords are usually based on a product or service because it can give you a clue on what exactly to sell.
Conclusion
If your keywords are just like what I said, good for you….. your research is done!

worth mentioning.

Thanks for the info. I really need this.
Craig, you should be commended. After years of seeing others sell every tidbit of knowledge, it’s nice to see that someone like yourself is willing to share truly helpful information.
And the Google tools you suggested are definitely a few of the best free SEO tools available.
Google Keyword Tool is indeed an useful stuff for todays organic traffic.
The demand for that particular keyword searches is high, meaning that keyword is targetted and this is how you judge the competition of your keyword.
Thanks for the post.
Thanks for the tips Craig looking forward to reading the next post.
This website has very good information. I learnt a lot by reading here.
Thanks Craig,
That was educational. I do get a decent traffic on my site but my bounce rate is rather high at about 46%. Do you have any suggestions? My site comes up #1 for “luxury houses toronto” and other similar searches. It is http://www.ezeehomes.com Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Best,
Zee
That’s great info – just 3 simple steps. I didn’t know about the Google Traffic Estimator – great stuff. Thanks a lot.
Hey Craig:
Thanks for starting this series on organic traffic. I have learned the hard way that finding the right keyword related to my niche that will generate traffic consistently is hard to do mainly because I picked a theme that is too broad. The theme of my site covers many aspects of trading and is called Trading Code Revealed.
This is an example of a site that has a too broad of a theme and selecting the right keywords does not seem to make much difference in generating organic traffic.
Maybe you could talk about what guys like me might do with keyword selection when the site is too broad. Also, could you please tell us what we should expect from a site in regard to organic traffic as per the number of pages a site has?
In your example above, how many visitors would you expect to get from a well written content page just for that one keyword?
Thank you
BobH
Excellent article. Full of useful information. Just the word SEO is a frightening thought for anyone unfamiliar with what SEO is all about. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to your next article. God Bless.
Hey Craig
I totally agree with your view of getting free organic and targeted website traffic. Using the right keyword with good content on a good site is the number one key of geeting massive ready to buy prospects. Also your site should be easy to navitage by your prospects and should be easy to lead to the buy botton with no hassle. Well done for a good job.
Hi Craig,
I like your easy to understand formula. Seems like it would work great for someone researching the ideal product to sell. But can it really help me get my existing site/topic/product optimized?
My key words are “anxiety in bipolar”. Searches per month average 90. Competition about 4 million.
If I change keywords to “anxiety symptoms in bipolar” in an effort to trim down the competition, Keyword Tool reports ZERO searches (not enough data). Google shows 16,300 competitive sites.
Ok let’s change it to “anxiety attacks in bipolar”. Still ZERO searches per month.
But “anxiety attacks cures” gives me 590 searches per month with 22,000 competitive results.
Do you suggest that I use more generic keywords not exactly relevant to my main keyword, just to get the right mix of search/competition?
thanks
-Deb
Very true indeed!
Thank you for your help!
Hi Craig,
I am fairly new at marketing, I like the info, it is a good guide. It is nice to see that there is still someone willing to help others.
Hi,
Thanks for all the comments, I’m glad you like this post, stay tuned, more posts are coming up.
Zee,
Instead of setting your video as autoplay, let others have the option of clicking it if they want to play it.
Bob,
If your theme is too broad, then narrow it down, it is easier to get organic traffic that way.
Deb,
You just said it! Yes, you should target the keyword, ‘anxiety attacks cures’.
I see what you meant. I search my keywords but through my
website first and allow Google suggest the right keys for my website.
Using the traffic estimator I was able to identify the keywords most profitable, but it cost a lot of money on the daily basis.
Thanks for the information, Craig.
Thanks Craig,
I’ve tried but couldn’t do it, because is a link from website. Maybe there is way but I couldn’t.
Thanks again,
Zee
Thanks for the good information. It is very easy to lose focus on what is important. That little research does make a difference.
Hey Zee,
I’m afraid, I’m not quite an expert on video related stuff, maybe you can try to Google for your answers or search thru some webmaster forums.
I’m very sure, it’s possible to stop your autoplay.
Great keyword research tips, Craig, thanks. Looking for keywords that comply all your criterias are really tough. Is there any tools that can helps?
Google keyword tool will do fine. It’s not about tools, it’s how you use them to your advantage… now, that really matters more.
The traffic estimator will be a useful addition since I am starting to get into making sites for adsense. Right now I am guessing at the click prices, but this will help tremendously. Thanks for the advice…
Excellent post! I heard it is good to type in allintitle:yourdomain.com to find related competition. I look for competition that is less than a 1000 in my keyword research. Long tail keywords is the way to go.
Spencer
aycs.co.uk looking for the link to part two but does not show in the email link.
Craig,
Thanks for the free information. You have simplified Keyword research nicely. The Google keyword tool is free and I believe better than some tools which you have to pay for and which stop working after some time – due to the failure of the seller to maintain them.
Paul
That’s right, Google don’t create junky stuff for us!
Craig,
I’ve read that the keyword estimator is useless for organic traffic and is directed towards ppc users. What is your take on this. I am trying to build 10 blogs for real estate using these principles. One has only 1500 competing terms in quotes, but google said it had 50,000 impressions last month. Seems unreal to me.
Do you mean 50,000 searches? If yes, then you found a very good keyword!
Yes, but that is broad search not exact. I’m really don’t know the difference either. Also, that doesn’t answer my question about the keyword tool in general. Many reviews have said it’s useless for organic traffic.
Try phrase search, if broad searches is already so high, how low can phrase or exact search be?
People who say that Google Keyword Tool is useless are usually trying to sell you another tool to squeeze some commissions out of you, isn’t that obvious?
Maybe they just do not know how to use it to their advantage, however, you know it now. Think about it, will Google create a crappy tool for us?

Hello Craig,
Congratulations for the good work you are doing.
Craig, I have been wondering if one is going to make any money from a keyword that has only 10 searches a day and with as much as 20k competing websites. I was thinking we would do better if we targeted keywords with at least 500 searches a month and only 10k competitors.
